Possessed (1947)

Flashbacks of a dazed woman  found on the streets of Los Angeles reveal her obsession for a man as a result of borderline personality disorder which ultimately leads to murder.

Dark downward-spiralling story of madness with great noir photography and its star giving one of her best performances.

Halliwell *: "Extremely heavy, almost Germanic, flashback melodrama with everyone tearing hammer and tongs at the rather ailing script. Fun if you're in that mood, and an interesting example of the American film noir of the forties."

Maltin ***: "Crawford gives fine performance in intelligent study of woman whose subtle mental problems lead to ruin."
