Cry of the City (1948)

The story of two tenement-bred, Italian-American, childhood-friends who grow up with radically different views on crime, and are pitted against each other while following their chosen paths.

Intelligently made crime thriller in noir style and with a good cast.

Halliwel **: "Very well produced but relentlessly miserable New York thriller on the lines of Manhattan Melodrama and Angels With Dirty Faces."

Maltin **1/2: "Rehash of MANHATTAN MELODRAMA...slick but predictable."

A brilliant little film noir with a great performance by the very underrated Victor Mature.
