Falling Down (1993)

An unemployed defense worker frustrated with the various flaws he sees in society, begins to psychotically and violently lash out against them.

Near masterpiece of social satire with a simple narrative forwarded by a succession of scenes - often little stories in themselves - open for multiple interpretation, with two stellar lead performances.

Halliwell **: "A fascinating movie on urban life, with a protagonist who is both hero and villain. It can be seen as a vigilante film,an attempt to claim a position for White Anglo-Saxon Protestants as among the victims of modern society, or a satire on over-reaction to city living. It remains a slightly queasy but enjoyable experience."

Maltin **1/2: "Dead-on portrait of a disenfranchised, modern-day American who goes off the deep end. It's vivid, it's credible, it's extremely well acted...but what exactly is the point?"
