48 Hrs. (1982)

A hard-nosed cop reluctantly teams up with a wise-cracking criminal temporarily paroled to him, in order to track down a killer.

Competently directed and highly entertaining buddy cop movie, the misogynist humor, however, is very much dated by now and quite embarrassing.

Halliwell (no star): "Reasonable action melodrama with comedy asides and San Francisco locations; but too violent for its own good."

Maltin ***1/2: "Slam-bang mix of action and comedy;...Murphy, in his screen debut, is sensational, but so is Nolte in his low-key, raspy way; scene where Murphy terrorizes a redneck bar is the standout."
