On the Road (2012)

Young writer Sal Paradise has his life shaken by the arrival of free-spirited Dean Moriarty and his girl, Marylou. As they travel across the country, they encounter a mix of people who each impact their journey indelibly.

Solid attempt to adapt this classic with allthe indredients there and some great performances, but the drive and the spirit of the novel are amiss, so that madcap Dean Moriarty rather appears to be a mad man with a social disorder.

Maltin**1/2: "Director Salles and his collaborators make great use of locations and a strong supporting cast to capture special moments on the road, but the film never quite takes off. The final scene, however, is heartbreaking."
