Lord of the Flies (1963)

Shipwrecked on an island, the castaway boys eventually revert to savagery despite the few rational kids' attempts to prevent that.

Powerful and quite faithful adaptation of the classic dystopian novel fitfully set on a tropical, but bleak island and with a superb amatuer juvenile cast.

Halliwell (no stars): "Semi-professional production of a semi-poetic novel which worked well on the printed page but on screen seems crude and unconvincing."

Maltin***: "Unique story..."
