The Count of Monte Cristo (2002)

A young man, falsely imprisoned by his jealous "friends," escapes and uses a hidden treasure to exact his revenge.

Well produced adaptation with a good cast and a fast-paced story development, but not really that engaging.

Halliwell*: "Old fashioned swashbuckler that provides simple pleasures even though it lacks the requisite panache."

Maltin***: "Surprisingly good version of the Dumas evergreen...Final section of the story becomes obvious, but overall a nice job."
