Concert: Langtunes

Recently we had the rare opportunity to hear this interesting band from Iran live in the regensburg W1 venue. They decribe their music themselves as "influenced by so many artists of different genres, from Alternative/Indie Rock, to Heavy Metal, from Disco Punk, to Electro-Dance Rock, from Hip-Hop, to Electronica and Trip-Hop".Indeed, you could hear all those influeces, but the young Langtunes have successfully created their own fully original sound and their powerful playing and enthusiasm thrilled the Regensburg audience.(The clip below is not from this concert, but is from Dresden last year).

Cowboys & Aliens (2011)

A spaceship arrives in Arizona, 1873, to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West region.

A quite audacious mix of genres, professionably made with a good cast, but hardly offers more than the title leads one to expect.

Maltin**: "Strange hybrid of Western and science-fiction is good-looking and well cast, but neither aspect of the story is sufficiently original to make it work. When you get right down to it, what are those aliens doing in a cowboy movie? And why is this film so utterly devoid of fun?"

Patrycja Zurawlew

New Stuff: Enemy

I was intrigued by the reviews to this movie and didn't want to wait till it gets available in Germany, so I ordered the DVD in the USA.

In & Out (1997)

A midwestern teacher questions his sexuality after a former student makes a comment about him at the Academy Awards.
Hit-and-miss comedy with an obvious message and a stilted uplifting ending.

Halliwell*: "Brisk, mildly amusing comedy that is careful not to offend."

Maltin***: "Very funny script by Paul Rudnick, played to a fare-thee-well by an expert cast. Enjoyable cameos by Whoopi Goldberg and Glenn Close at the mock Oscar ceremony."
