Knowing (2009)

A teacher opens a time capsule that has been dug up at his son's elementary school; in it are some chilling predictions -- some that have already occurred and others that are about to -- that lead him to believe his family plays a role in the events that are about to unfold.

Above average end-of-the-world prophesy drama, good in foreboding and atmosphere, but of course with the usual loopholes concerning logic.

On second view I still agree, but I do have a guilty pleasure for doomdsday movies since my childhood.

Maltin**: "Intriguing premise would have made a great Twilight Zone episode, but this New Age doomsday thriller becomes increasingly dour and tedious, with a particularly preposterous finale blending science fiction and biblical prophecy."
