William S. Burroughs: The Cat Inside
I am not a dog hater. I do hate what man has made of his best friend. The snarl of a panther is certainly more dangerous than the snarl of a dog, but it isn't ugly. A cat's rage is beautiful, burning with a pure cat flame, all its hair standing up and crackling blue sparks, eyes blazing and sputtering. But a dog's snarl is ugly, a redneck lynch-mob Paki-basher snarl...snarl of someone got a "Kill a Queer for Christ" sticker on his heap, a self-righteous occupied snarl. When you see that snarl you are looking at something that has no face of its own. A dog's rage is not his. It is dictated by his trainer. And lynch-mob rage is dictated by conditioning.
New Stuff: Frank Zappa
I've been a giant Zappa from my teens on and actually had every single of his albums all the way up to the late 80s. However, switching to CDs I haven't completed my collection yet. This is one of the missing pieces.
New Stuff: Vijay Iyer Trio
Last year I saw the Vijay Iyer Trio perform this album live and was instantly convinced. The album has since received rave reviews and is on several best of lists for 2009.

A mature 14-year old girl meets a charming 32-year old photographer on the Internet and, suspecting that he is a pedophile, she goes to his home in an attempt to expose him.
A closed-room torture drama competently made with 2 good central performances, but with dubious intentions.
