Blade II (2002)

Blade forms an uneasy alliance with the vampire council in order to combat the Reaper vampires who feed on vampires.

A sequel with a surprising plot, almost better than the original.

He had to have planned it because when we drove onto the dock the boat was there and the engine was running and you could see the water churning up the phosphorescence in the river, which was the only light there was because there was no moon, nor no electric light either in the shack where the dockmaster should have been sitting, nor on the boat itself, and certainly not from the car, yet everyone knew where everything was, and when the big Packard came down the ramp Mickey the driver braked it so that the wheels hardly rattled the boars, and when he pulled up alongside the gangway the doors were already open and they hustled Bo and the girl upside before they even made a shadow in all that darkness.

New Stuff: Strings Of Consciousness

New album with vocals by Julie Christmas, Cosey Fanni Tutti and Lydia Lunch.

L'enfant lion (1993)

Two African children, brother and sister, are enslaved and sold to a desert prince who holds them captive in his walled palace. The boy uses his special rapport with the animal kingdom to engineer their escape.

Schmaltzy, but wonderfully produced and photographed tale with some amazing child - wild animal scenes.

On second view I still agree, but wouldn't call it that schmaltzy anymore.

Early in the morning, late in the century, Cricklewood Broadway. At 05.27 hours on 1 January 1975, Alfred Archibald Jones was dressed in corduroy and sat in a fume-filled Cavalier Musketeer Estate face down on the steering wheel, hoping the judgement would not be too heavy upon him.

The Descent: Part 2 (2009)

Refusing to believe her story about cave-dwelling monsters, the sole survivor of a spelunking exploration gone horribly wrong is forced to follow the authorities back into the caves where something awaits.

Not so bad sequel connecting to the original almost seamlessly, but telling the same story all over again.

The Descent (2005)

A caving expedition goes horribly wrong, as the explorers become trapped and ultimately pursued by a strange breed of predators.

Standard monster movie, slightly more creative concerning personal (all-female), location (cave) and monsters (humanoid cave-dwellers).

Gone Baby Gone (2007)

Two Boston area detectives investigate a little girl's kidnapping, which ultimately turns into a crisis both professionally and personally.

Realistic crime drama which manages to describe the complexities of a seemingly simple crime.
