Window faces

Regensburg, April 2013 (Miranda Kerr)

New Stuff: The Knife

Magnificent (and monumental) album, most likely one of the best of this year!

Transsiberian (2008)

A Trans-Siberian train journey from China to Moscow becomes a chase of deception and murder when an American couple encounters a mysterious pair of fellow travelers.

Cleverly made Hitchcock-style thriller that successfully combines a good ensemble with a mysterious adventure on a long train journey and avoids presenting a complicated plot.

Maltin **1/2: "Uneven action-melodrama has its moments anf gets a boost from Kingsley's colorful performance as a Russian cop."

Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948)

A man and his wife decide they can afford to have a house in the country built to their specifications, and it's a lot more trouble than they think.

Classic light comedy with its stars playing at ease what they can do best; the humor is indeed very light.

Halliwell ***: "It hasn't the lightness and brightness of the book, but this is a fun film for the middle-aged who like to watch three agreeable stars doing their thing."

Maltin ***: "Slick comedy...; expertly handled, with Grant at his peak. And no one ever described room colors better than Loy!"

Outside myself at moments like this, heading home, I hesitate a moment to check if it is truly a living me.
