A day in the life, Jan 6

A day in the life, Jan 6, Regensburg by night

October Sky (1999)

The true story of Homer Hickam, a coal miner's son who was inspired by the first Sputnik launch to take up rocketry against his father's wishes.

Tasteful produced and well-cast movie with a touch of nostalgia; entertaining, but once again an American success story of an individual making his way against social obstacles.

New York

Times Square, November-December 1912

First Lines: Nancy Kress - Beggars in Spain

They sat stiffly on his antique Eames chairs, two people who didn't want to be here, or one person who didn't want to and one who resented the other's reluctance.

Zombieland (2009)

A shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting tough guy trying to find the last Twinkie, and a pair of sisters trying to get to an amusement park join forces to travel across a zombie-filled America.

Fairly entertaining zombie spoof surprises with its cast of top stars; Bill Murray#s stint is worth the watch.

Maltin**1/2: "Murray is amusing in an off-kilter cameo as himself, but it's Harrelson's gung-ho performance that propels this likable if silly film."

Bron/Broen, Season 1 (2011)

When a body is found on the bridge between Denmark and Sweden, right on the border, Danish inspector Martin Rohde and Swedish Saga Norén have to share jurisdiction and work together to find the killer.

Extremely well-produced TV crime drama with some excellent bleak cinematography; however, the plot comes up with too many red herrings, and the ending is a disappointment explaining meticulously executed terrorist attacks and multiple fatalities with a personal vendetta.
