Die Sinfonie der Ungewissheit (2018)

Set on the grounds of Hamburg's famous DESY, Claudia Lehmann embarks on a philosophical journey together with her PhD supervisor Gerhard Mack, one of Germany's most prolific and transboundary physicists.

More focused on the scientist, who is indeed a fascinating personality, than on the actual science this documentary presents an intimate portrait and some great music in its making.

From the top of the large boulder he sat on, Ensign Tom Davis looked across the expanse of the cave toward Captain Lucius Abernathy, Science Officer Q'eeng and Chief Engineer Paul West perched on a second, larger boulder, and thought, Well, this sucks.

The Night Stalker (1972)

An abrasive Las Vegas newspaper reporter investigates a series of murders committed by a vampire.

Above-average, unusual TV crime mystery stuns with its supernatural topic.

Io sono l'amore (2009)

Emma left Russia to live with her husband in Italy. Now a member of a powerful industrial family, she is the respected mother of three, but feels unfulfilled. One day, Antonio, a talented chef and her son's friend, makes her senses kindle.

Finely produced, stylish and well-cast melodrama is rich in detail and rewarding to watch, but its contrived plot and high society settings are a bit off-putting.

Maltin***: "Studied tale of the importance of tossing tradition aside to follow your passions, no matter the consequences, is obvious at times (as it links food and sensuality), but undeniably provocative. Some viewers may find its operatic approach difficult to digest - pun intended."

Snowtown (2011)

Based on true events, 16 year-old Jamie falls in with his mother's new boyfriend and his crowd of self-appointed neighborhood watchmen, a relationship that leads to a spree of torture and murder.

Dismal, realistic and at times harrowing crime tale is a discomforting watch, but is quite powerful due to its naturalism in a bleak Australian community and strong performances throughout.
