New Stuff: Kate Moss

Recently published  as paperback I'm not sure whether I have the original 2008 hardcover edition.

Xenia Micsanschi

Driving Miss Daisy (1989)

An old Jewish woman and her African-American chauffeur in the American South have a relationship that grows and improves over the years.

Cautiously told tearjerker which succeeds mostly due to the top performances of the two leads.

Halliwell*: "Old-fashioned and charming, but slight to the point of consequentiality."

Maltin***: "Genteel, entertaining adaptation...A smooth and enjoyable ride, with fine performances by the two leads. Aykroyd is likable in an unusual "straight" role as Tandy's son, though you can never quite forget who's playing the part (especially with such obvious make-up."
