New Stuff. Yes Minister

A comedy series recommended to me a while back.

Irene Hiemstra

ph: Jasper Abels

Frozen River (2008)

Two working-class women who smuggle illegal immigrants in the trunk of a car from Canada to the United States in order to make ends meet.

A subtle and well-played melodrama in which the landscape is jusr as cetral to the story as the characters.

Maltin***: "Low-key but utterly compelling drama with two finely etched performances."

New Stuff: Snowpiercer (2013)

I've been urgently wanting to see this movie, soon will.

Linn Arvidsson

X-Men (2000)

Two mutants come to a private academy for their kind whose resident superhero team must oppose a terrorist organization with similar powers.

OK adaptation of a comics classic is slow-paced,  has good emphasis on atmosphere and style and surprisingly doesn't overdo it with the action sequences.

Halliwell (no star): "Stylish comicbook action movie that is one of the few to suggest that some inteeligence is involved, though its attempt to find a connection between its mutants and the Jewish victims of the concentration camps is ill-judged."

Maltin***: "Long on razzle-dazzle, fun to watch, though some energy is sapped away by the climax."

Chiara Mazzoleni

New Stuff: Renaldo & The Loaf

I have the LP, but wanted to have it on CD - and Songs From the Surgery is included.
