Signs (2002)

A family living on a farm finds mysterious crop circles in their fields which suggests something more frightening to come.

Atmospheric variation on The War of the Worlds, all done in good taste and with subplots with some pretensions.

Halliwell (no star): "Vapid supernatural thriller that fails to convince on any level, even on the basic one of suspense."

Maltin **1/2: "Creepy movie about ultra-close encounters with invading aliens is thwarted by its own ambitions to tackle even bigger subjects like faith, fate, and the order of the universe. When it dwells on those matters it's downright silly at times, but when it sticks to the scary stuff it makes you jump."
