Night Train to Lisbon (2013)

A Swiss Professor abandons his lectures and buttoned-down life to embark on a thrilling adventure that will take him on a journey to the very heart of himself.

More the detection of a romantic tragedy within Portugese history this movie has a good cast and production value, but disappoints with its formulaic revelations.

Ignition (2002)

A web of intrigue and conspiracy lies beneath the euphoria as the U.S. is about to put a man on the moon for the first time in over thirty years.

Despite the two stars this is a mediocre thriller with a preposterously implausible conspiracy.

Havana (1990)

A professional gambler Jack visits Havana to organize a big Poker game and falls in love with a woman whose revolutionary Cuban husband is arrested and tortured.

Sallow and overlong re-imagining of Casablanca to a pre-revolution era Cuba context, fails in nearly all departments.

Halliwell (no stars): "Inconsequential, rambling tale with no perceptible point."

Maltin **1/2: "No masterpiece, overly reminiscent of CASABLANCA, and a huge box-office disaster, but still unjustly maligned as a stinker. (..) Production designer's dream is very entertaining for about 90 minutes, then tails off. Similar to the underrated Richard Lester film CUBA."

Darkness (2002)

A teenage girl moves into a remote countryside house with her family, only to discover that their gloomy new home has a horrifying past that threatens to destroy the family.

Although it has some atmosphere and an unusually star-spangled cast, this is still standard spooky fare with an incoherent story to match.
