New Stuff: Suzanne Vega

I must admit, although I always admired Devo, I never had bought any of their albums.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
A journalist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by a young computer hacker.
Despite excellent production value, good pacing and an excellent feamle lead this remake of a Swedish movie lacks a lot of the suspension and mystery found in the former.
Maltin***: "Steven Zaillian adapted Stieg Larsson's best-selling novel, which retains its original setting but sheds some of the nuances (involving muckraking journalism and big business) that distinguish the 2009 Swedish screen version. Like that film, this one requires the viewer to endure painful scenes of rape and torture, for the saking of a gripping story."

Coming from a police family, a renegade cop ends up fighting his uncle after the murder of his father.
Cliche-ridden cop thriller with an almost ridiculous plot leaves its star cast at loss most of the time; only mildly entertaining.
Halliwell (no star): "An unoriginal mix of car chases, tough cops and fist fights providing undemanding entertainment for the unthinking."
Maltin**: "Slick but empty, overly familiar thriller..."
