(art: Laurence Chaves)

To the reader. - I here present you, courteous reader, with the record of a remarkable period in my life: according to my apllication of it, I trust that it will prove, not merely an intersting record, but, in a considerable degree, useful and instructive.

New Stuff: Fiona Apple

Since I'll be getting her album soon, and this one was missing in my collection, I had to catch up.

Lucette van Beek

New Stuff: Neneh Cherry

Actually I already had this album (bought in 1988), but for some reason it got lost...

After all these years I finally got an album from this band, their albums are usually not inexpensive and most often hard to get.

First Lines: Thomas Love Peacock - Nightmare Abbey

Nightmare Abbey, a venerable family-mansion, in a highly picturesque state of semi-delapidation, pleasntly situated on a strip of dry land between the sea and the fens, at the verge of the county of Lincoln, had the honour to be the seat of Christopher Glowry, Esquire.

This Island Earth (1955)

Aliens come to Earth seeking scientists to help them in their war.

Despite a highly implausable plot full of holes this is as a whole a quite entertaining sci-fi flic.

Wicked Little Things (2006)

A widow and her 2 daughters move to a small town in Pennsylvania where, unknown to them, in 1913, a horrid mine accident trapped dozens of children alive, underground, but there's a problem: they're still alive.

Slightly atmospheric, but otherwise quite conventional mixture of the ghost story and zombie genres.

Still agree with my comment on second viewing.
