Crawl (2019)

A young woman, while attempting to save her father during a category 5 hurricane, finds herself trapped in a flooding house and must fight for her life against alligators.

Run-of-the-mill creature feature is made with competence and obvious knowledge of the genre, but there simply are no surprises here.

Halloween (2018)

Laurie Strode confronts her long-time foe Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Competent and plausible continuation of the Halloween tale certainly doesn't live up to the simplicity and impact of the original, but has some nice twists and shocks.

I Am Not a Serial Killer (2016)

In a small Midwestern town, a troubled teen with homicidal tendencies must hunt down and destroy a supernatural killer while keeping his own inner demons at bay.

Original, dark-humored tale is well-made with a good cast and appears at first glance to be a psychological drama, before, it finally deep-ends into horror territory.

Heart of Darkness (1993)

A trading company manager travels up an African river to find a missing outpost head and discovers the depth of evil in humanity's soul.

Good, but somewhat too literate adaptation of Joseph Conrad's novel  is nevertheless visually imaginative and features competent performances by Roth and Malkovich.
