2012 (2009)
An epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.
Basically a remake of When Worlds Collide with more spectacular destruction scenes but just as trashy.
On second view: only enjoyable scenes are those of the destruction of our planet.
Maltin **: "State-of-the-art CGI wizardry is employed to eye-popping effect in this latest apocalyptic extravaganza from the director of THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW. But the pace too often is plodding, the performances wildy uneven, and the script crammed with laughable cliches and preposterous coincidences...this amped-up version of a '70s disaster film offers little more than very expensive cheap thrills."
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)
The crews of the Enterprise and the Excelsior must stop a plot to prevent a peace treaty between the Klingon Empire and the Federation.
This time around lots of fun, especially the jokes about the Klingons.
On second view: fun as ever, quite enjoyable addition to the series.
Halliwell**: "The last voyage of the original crew of the Starship Enterprise turns out to be their finest hour and fifty minutes."
Maltin***: "Entertaining saga cowritten by director Meyer. Nimoy helped concoct the story and also executive produced."
