Peyton Place (1957)
The film is an exposé of the lives and loves of the residents of a small New England town, where scandal, homicide, suicide, incest and moral hypocrisy hide behind a tranquil façade.
Highly accomplished and influential moral drama with a mulit-layered plot, although the happy ending appears a bit construed.

As World War II begins, a German freighter captain tries to get his ship back to Germany through a gantlet of Allied warships.
Despite the star doing his usual best, the movie lacks suspense and the romance is quite unconvincing.

A woman becomes an allied spy in Holland during WW2, although she is suspected of having cooperated with and taken help from the Nazis.
Old-fashioned spy drama (plus romance) somewhat inappropriately set in Nazi-occupied Holland. You can sense that this kind of movie may have inspired Tarantino for Inglourious Basterds.
