Wiener-Dog (2016)

A dachshund passes from oddball owner to oddball owner, whose radically dysfunctional lives are all impacted by the pooch.

As to be expected from this director this episodic film is downbeat, bleak and tinged with a dark humour, but more subdued, probably due to the shortness of each story; still, we get some great performances and enlightening moments, although the dog himself seems to be merely the unwilling observer of the events told.

The Air I Breathe (2007)

 

 

A drama based on an ancient Chinese proverb that breaks life down into four emotional cornerstones: happiness, pleasure, sorrow and love: A businessman bets his life on a horse race; a gangster sees the future; a pop star falls prey to a crime boss; a doctor must save the love of his life.

 

Meticulously crafted complex entanglement of 4 stories, quite violent - and pretentious.

 

Maltin*1/2: "...mess of a movie. Starts out promising, ..., then degenerates into a cartoonish train wreck. Pounding music score, jerky editing, and pretentious narration are no help."
