Oculus (2013)

A woman tries to exonerate her brother, who was convicted of murder, by proving that the crime was committed by a supernatural phenomenon.

Very well to look at and with a capable cast this horror flick ha style and atmosphere, but thoroughly disappoints any high expectations with a silly and illogical plot.

Maltin**1/2: "Handsome, well-acted horror film is so inventively edited, the past and present correlate; too bad such skill is expended on a plot that's just the same old horror-movie stuff."

The Circle (2017)

A woman lands a dream job at a powerful tech company called the Circle, only to uncover an agenda that will affect the lives of all of humanity.

Nicely made, well-intentioned, but quite sketchy satire only hastily takes aim at its topic and has hardly any punch; even the star cast is not much challenged.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

A group of intergalactic criminals are forced to work together to stop a fanatical warrior from taking control of the universe.

Basically another sci-fi actioner with a motley crew of superheroes and good effects, but made more likable by adding some humor; however, the raccoon steals the show.
