L'écume des jours (2013)

Wealthy, inventive bachelor Colin endeavors to find a cure for his lover Chloe after she's diagnosed with an unusual illness caused by a flower growing in her lungs.

A Boris Vian adaptation made with fast pacing and exuberant surreal imagination  is fascinating to watch, but soon becomes tiresome and it loses its grip on the sadness of its ending.

L'Odyssée (2016)

Highly influential and a fearlessly ambitious pioneer, innovator, filmmaker, researcher and conservationist, Jacques-Yves Cousteau's aquatic adventure covers roughly thirty years of an inarguably rich in achievements life.

Well-produced biopic with some great nature and underwater cinematography and a competent cast never quite captures Jacques-Yves Cousteau's love and enthusiasm for oceans and nature.

L'Auberge Espagnole (2002)

A strait-laced French student moves into an apartment in Barcelona with a cast of six other characters from all over Europe.

Likable, but only slightly funny comedy without much of a plot.

Ensemble, c'est tout (2007)

aka

Hunting and Gathering      Europe
Zusammen ist man weniger allein          Germany

An artist and cleaning lady, lives a lonely life in a small attic in Paris and becomes friends and romantically involved with her neighbours.

Typical French light romance with lots of dialogue, food, high emotions and humour.

And it's got Audrey Tautou in it.
