L'Inferno (1911)
Loosely adapted from Dante's Divine Comedy and inspired by the illustrations of Gustav Doré the original silent film this movie tells the Inferno part of Dante's work.
Wonderfully crafted, but quite outdated potpourri of images of Hell.
New Stuff: Kraftwerk
In his book 'The Ambient Century" Mark Prendergast calls this album his favourite of Kraftwerk's catalogue, and it is certainly their first that establishes them as the innovators as we know them today.
First Lines: Charles Dickens - Oliver Twist
Among other public buildings in the town of Mudfrog, it boasts of one which is common to most towns great or small, to wit, a workhouse; and in this workhouse there was born on a day and date which I need not trouble myself to repeat, inasmuch as it can be of no possible consequence to the reader, in this stage of the business at all events, the item of mortality whose name is prefixed to the head of this chapter.

Romasanta (2004)
An uproar is caused when some mutilated cadavers are discovered, giving way to the legend of the "Werewolf of Allariz.
A bit too ambitious werewolf story that fairly manages to hold one's interest.
First Lines: Jim Thompson - The Killer Inside Me
I'd finished my pie and was having a second cup of coffee when I saw him.
