William S. Burroughs: The Cat Inside
There's the old lady feeding the cats on the French consulate grounds right opposite the Cafe de France. The cats rush forward, snapping fish in the air. My first Russian Blue caught meat in his pwas. Don't remember what happened to him.

New Stuff: Inge Morath
I recently saw a tv documentary on Inge Morath's journey to the Balkan origins of her family and was quite convinced by the photos she made along the way.
AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
During an archaeological expedition on Bouvetøya Island in Antarctica, a team of archaeologists and other scientists find themselves caught up in a battle between the two legends.
Despite the awkward combination of two franchises this is quite entertaining and thrilling sci-fi monster fair.

First Lines: John Barth - The Sot-Weed Factor
In the last years of the Seventeenth Century there was to be found among the fops and fools of the London coffee-houses one rangy, gangling flitch called Ebenezer Cooke, more ambitious than talented, and yet more talented than prudent, who, like his friends-in-folly, all of whom were supposed to be educating at Oxford or Cambridge, had found the sound of Mother English more fun to game with than her sense to labor over, and so rather than applying himself to the pains of scholarship, had learned the knack of versifying, and ground out quires of couplets after the fashion of the day, afroth with Joves and Jupiters, aclang with jarring rhymes, and string-taut with similes stretched to the snapping-point.

Good-natured old fashion comedy, but not really too exciting.

An elderly lord abdicates to his three sons, and the two corrupt ones turn against him.
Ingenious and elaborate adaptation of William Shakespeare's King Lear to ahistorical Japanese setting by one of the great masters of cinema.
