First Lines: C. J. Cherryh - Cyteen
It was from the air that the rawness of the land showed most: vast tracks where humanity has as yet made no difference, deserts unclaimed, stark as moons, scrag and woolwood thickets unexplored except by orbiting radar.
The Grandmother (1970)
A young boy plants some strange seeds and they grow into a grandmother.
Told without dialogue, but with an elaborate soundtrack, combining animation and staged scenes, this David Lynch short tells a surreal story, many moments suggesting his later feature Eraserhead.
The Alphabet (1968)
A woman's dark and absurdist nightmare vision comprising a continuous recitation of the alphabet and bizarre living representations of each letter.
Combining animation and live action this short film conveys the sense of fear of learning - in David Lynch's own idiosyncratic kind of way.

Solid Highsmith adaptation with a touch of Hitchcock, nice settings and a good cast for the complicated mindgame play.
Peaky Blinders, Season 3 (2016)
Series 3 begins with the long-anticipated wedding of Thomas Shelby, where his family find themselves in danger of a mysterious guest. Tommy dives into a mission of intrigue, finding himself in situations more deadly than anything he has come across before.
The expansion of the Peaky Blinders saga (and empire) is as compelling and fascinating as ever, although the Russian conspiracy and jewelry heist is complex and difficult to follow.
