Opération lune (2002)

This hard-hitting mockumentary exposes how Stanley Kubrick faked the 1969 moon landing, with seeming-endorsements from many key players in NASA and the US government.

Mildly amusing mockumentary for those in the know, but in an age of conspiracy theories (and some actually believe NASA and Kubrick staged the moon landing) and doubts about media's honesty a quite dubious attempt.

Smile (2019)

A young and lonesome 18year old girl visits the legendary techno festival "Heimat" for the first time in her life, longingly hoping for experiences of proximity, joy and intensity.

Visually stunning and imaginative movie is a fascinating watch, although it tells a quite simple tale.

Ant-Man (2015)

Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, cat burglar Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Nicely entertaining Marvel superhero drama well-made on a somewhat smaller scale than similar projects; it helps, and the star cast seem to be enjoying the fun.

Allied (2016)

In 1942, a Canadian intelligence officer in North Africa encounters a female French Resistance fighter on a deadly mission behind enemy lines, and when they reunite in London, their relationship is tested by the pressures of war.

Old-fashioned WWII espionage romance drama has a good cast and production value, but doesn't quite convince as it only partially reveals its mystery.

On rewatching: Still good to watch, but one does wish a happy ending for Marion Cotillard.

The Great Buck Howard (2008)

A young man, much to the chagrin of his father, becomes the new assistant to an illusionist in decline.

Slightly entertaining tale is mainly watchable for Malkovich's smooth performance.

Maltin***: "Small but entertaining...is worth seeing for Malkovich's endearing and persuasive performance as a "mentalist"..."
