All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006)

A group of high-schoolers invite Mandy Lane, an innocent, desirable girl, to a weekend party on a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, the number of revelers begins to drop mysteriously.

Standard slasher horror flick with the usual cast of displeasant teenagers ends with an unprepared and silly twist.

Maltin*1/2: "Variation on a typical slasher film is boring and its characters obnoxious until a (sick) twist at the end, if you last that long. Mandy's character isn't explained or explored."

Zombieland (2009)

A shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting tough guy trying to find the last Twinkie, and a pair of sisters trying to get to an amusement park join forces to travel across a zombie-filled America.

Fairly entertaining zombie spoof surprises with its cast of top stars; Bill Murray#s stint is worth the watch.

Maltin**1/2: "Murray is amusing in an off-kilter cameo as himself, but it's Harrelson's gung-ho performance that propels this likable if silly film."

Justice League (2017)

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy.

Above-average superhero tohobohu entertains with good special effects, lots of action and, especially, a healthy amount of humour.

The Danish Girl (2015)

A fictitious love story loosely inspired by the lives of Danish artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener whose marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili's groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.

Heart-wrenching period drama intensely explores the implications of deciding to change one's gender, but at heart the amazing performances of the two leads make this movie a near masterpiece.

Paranoia (2013)

An entry-level employee at a powerful corporation finds himself occupying a corner office, but at a dangerous price: he must spy on his boss's old mentor to secure for him a multi-billion dollar advantage.

A vacant pretty boy hardly can compete against the senior stars in this hollow and anaemic thriller; the makers certainly didn't consult a dictionary when choosing the title.

Maltin**: "Industrial espionage thriller...the chases, twists, and "accidents" are merely about the next big thing in phones. So what?"

The Informers (2008)

One week in L.A. in 1983, featuring movie executives, rock stars, a vampire and other morally challenged characters in adventures laced with sex, drugs and violence.

Although it has a good cast and a professional production, the phlegm of most of its characters infects the whole impression of this movie.

Maltin BOMB: "... adds up to way less than zero this time. A good cast is lost in the fog of cliched writing and indifferent direction...Yecccch."

The Ward (2010)

An institutionalized young woman becomes terrorized by a ghost.

Standard horror thriller with a predictable ending.
