The Proposition (2005)
A lawman apprehends a notorious outlaw and gives him nine days to kill his older brother, or else they'll execute his younger brother.
Existential Australian Western, a dark slow-paced vision of a world without redemption, well staged and with a great cast; also noteworthy that Nick Cave wrote the script and composed the soundtrack.
Maltin**: "Austere, violent, and relentlessly harsh, like the time and place it portrays. Nick Cave's screenplay challenges the viewer to find humanity amidst the sturm und drang; it ain't easy."
