Red Scorpion (1988)
An elite Special Forces operative is chosen to assassinate an anti-Communist rebel leader, but defects after witnessing the brutality of his comrades, leading the resistance against their oppressors.
Mediocre actioner with an erratic plot and some kind of diffuse anti-colonial political message.
Halliwell (no star): "Incompetent action movie that staggers from one dull moment to another with a complete lack of conviction."

Biutiful (2010)
A single father of two children, finds his life in chaos as he is forced to deal with his life in order to escape the heat of crime in underground Barcelona, to break with the love for the divorced, manic depressive, abusive mother of his children and to regain spiritual insight in his life as he is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Intense personal drama that seems to load too much into its story, but convinces mainly due to Javier Bardem's superb performance.
Maltin***: "Personal, passionate film benefits from a heartfelt performance by bardem, but it's extremely difficult to watch and unrelentingly downbeat. Some people found it uplifting; we didn't."
