A Mexican beauty hopes to rise above her station by marrying a wealthy American, but that is complicated by meeting Arturo Bandini, a first-generation Italian hoping to land a writing career and a blue-eyed blonde on his arm.
Although made in good taste and with a star cast, the compassion is hardly realized and the result seems like a tearjerker for a sophisticated audience.
