An orphan boy, meets an escaped convict, a mentally unhinged rich woman, and a bewitching girl, and is bestowed great expectations of wealth from a mysterious patron.
A typically tasteful BBC adaptation of the Charles Dickens' classic is faithful to the novel, but is slow-paced and hardly creates the romatic interest in the story and ending is a quite disappointing.
