Broadcast News (1987)

A network news producer falls for a new reporter who represents the trend towards entertainment news she despises.

Conventionally plotted romance with some humorous elements is at its best when depicting the actual work on creating broadcast news.

Halliwell*: "Mildly satirical look at the world of television journalism that slips into romantic comedy."

Maltin***: "Appealing and intelligent comedy...All three stars are fine, but Brooks is a special standout as an ace reporter, and Hunter's best friend, who's really in love with her. Nicholson contributes a funny unbilled performance as the network's star anchorman."
