Ida (2013)

A young novitiate nun in 1960s Poland, is on the verge of taking her vows when she discovers a dark family secret dating back to the years of the Nazi occupation.

Slowpaced, subtle, but intense drama with superb b/w cinematography and two great lead performances.

Maltin***1/2: "Newcomer Trzebuchowska is fine but veteran Polish actress Kulesza is devastatingly raw as a middle-aged, worldly woman who has been knocked around by life: it's a role any actress would crave and is the real center of this simple, original movie. A quiet winner."
