Kayo Dot are a New York experimental rock band formed in 2003 after the break-up of Maudlins of the Well, and they released their first album on John Zorn's Tzadik label. I came across them in the good old MySpace days and was instantly intrigued. The label on their debut reads, "Kayo Dot powerfully integrates elements of modern classical composition with layers of guitars and vocals more common to rock and metal." To me they sound like a much more modern kind of art rock with songs of symphonic dimensions and immersing their sound with a good chunk of wonderful noise. I hear they will be releasing a new album this month: it'll certainly be exciting.
