You Can't Take It With You (1938)

A man from a family of rich snobs becomes engaged to a woman from a good-natured but decidedly eccentric family.

An exuberantly wholesome American comedy with a wonderful cast playing eccentric characters; a bit overlong and not without some typically Capraesque political speeches.

Halliwell**: "A hilarious, warm and witty play is largely changed into a triade against big business, but the Capra expertise is here in good measure and the stars all pull their weight."

Maltin***1/2: "...prime Capracorn, not quite as compelling as MR. DEEDS or MR. SMITH..., but still highly entertaining."
