But it's never been that certain how serious their early efforts actually were, since in time their music improved considerably. Or, as Lester Bangs put it: the Godz "are a pure test of one of the supreme traditions of rock & roll: the process by which a musical band can evolve from beginnings of almost insulting illiteracy to wind up several albums later romping and stomping deft as champs."In any case they're lots of fun; I also recommend their Bob Dylan parody Lay in the Sun. (Not to be confused with the heavy metal band of the exact same name but no relation).
