Rarely Heard: Godz - Eleven

Even earlier than the Shaggs the New York group Godz were relasing music on the legendary and adventurous ESP label that could compete with getting them the repuation as the worst band of all times. But it's never been that certain how serious their early efforts actually were, since in time their music improved considerably. Or, as Lester Bangs put it: the Godz "are a pure test of one of the supreme traditions of rock & roll: the process by which a musical band can evolve from beginnings of almost insulting illiteracy to wind up several albums later romping and stomping deft as champs."In any case they're lots of fun; I also recommend their Bob Dylan parody Lay in the Sun. (Not to be confused with the heavy metal band of the exact same name but no relation).
